Telegraph Exchange

The Historic Telephone & Telegraph building, constructed in 1911 by Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph Company, was one of Utah’s first operator stations, supporting the region’s early telephone technology amidst Salt Lake Valley’s growth. The planned project will feature 23 residential units in the vibrant 9th & 9th neighborhood in the heart of Salt Lake City.

The project’s scope includes creating a site master plan, revitalizing the historic Telegraph Exchange Building, and constructing four new townhome clusters. Additionally, a community rooftop gathering space, clubhouse, and swimming pool will be included, all designed to minimize impact on the surrounding area.

As part of the adaptive reuse efforts, six residential lofts will be created within the historic building, while 17 new modern three-story townhomes will be strategically placed to activate the site and enhance the street front, blending with the neighborhood’s eclectic character.

This emission-free community will utilize 100% electric furnaces and water heaters, powered by off-site solar energy. All parking is provided on-site, including EV charging stations for electric vehicles.
